The Who

About Our Client

Our client is one of the leading restoration and reconstruction companies operating in the Midwest, with multiple offices across several states serving residential, institutional, and commercial customers. For decades, they've served communities during their darkest hours — floods, fires, mold emergencies — bringing people back to their homes and businesses with care, expertise, and a phoenix-like commitment to restoration.

They operate six offices across Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma — a $60+ million regional group with offices that range from best-in-class leadership models to high-growth markets hungry for the right leadership DNA. Some offices represent leadership excellence — tight-knit teams, strong profitability, minimal turnover, and cultures of pride, accountability, and ownership. Other offices are in growth mode — and you'll be the catalyst tasked with making that transformation happen.

The Industry Reality

The restoration industry is recession-proof, growing, and serves communities during their most vulnerable moments. Imagine a restaurant kitchen fire that closes the business and 50 employees are now temporarily out of work. Or a broken pipe that floods a home and displaces a family. Our client steps in with steadfast service, innovative solutions, and all-inclusive support to get people back in business.

The Regional Footprint

Six offices across Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma — serving residential, commercial, and institutional clients. The regional leader oversees a high-performing $60+ million operation with both model offices to learn from and growth offices ready for the right leadership catalyst.

The What

What You'll Be Leading

You will be the strategic partner and leadership development champion to a successful regional operator — focused on elevating teams, building leadership capabilities, and driving cultural and performance transformation across multiple offices.

This is the "best of both worlds" — you'll learn from elite, high-performing teams while simultaneously developing struggling teams into powerhouse operations through coaching, mentorship, and strategic people development. This is not a process-improvement role. This is a people-first, culture-first leadership development mission.

Leadership Development

Coach office leaders, GMs, Project Managers, and Estimators to grow skills, own results, and build accountable teams.

Cultural Transformation

Drive measurable improvements in team engagement, retention, and performance across growth markets through coaching and trust-building.

Executive Apprenticeship

Work directly alongside a successful regional leader to understand P&L management, market expansion, and multi-office strategic decision-making.

Scalable Systems Building

Create training programs, coaching frameworks, onboarding playbooks, and performance systems that support continued regional growth.

Must Haves

What This Role Demands

We're looking for a business leader and team developer — someone with 5–10 years of experience who gets energized by coaching leaders, building winning cultures, and driving organizational transformation. You need a track record of developing people, elevating team performance, and building leadership capabilities across distributed operations.

Experience in restoration is a plus, but we're equally excited about leaders from general construction, industrial services, logistics, multi-unit hospitality, retail management, or any service-based business where you've developed managers and built high-performing teams. Most importantly, you need business acumen, executive presence, and genuine passion for developing people — not just fixing processes.

People Development Track Record

Proven experience developing managers and elevating team performance across multiple locations or business units — coaching leaders, not just managing processes.

Multi-Site Leadership Experience

5–10 years leading distributed operations — restoration, construction, industrial services, logistics, hospitality, or any service-based environment where you've built teams.

Business Acumen & P&L Literacy

Strong understanding of financial and operational levers in a service business — profitability, margins, overhead management, and how people decisions impact the bottom line.

Executive Presence & Influence

Ability to drive change across independently operated offices by building credibility, earning trust, and influencing without direct authority.

The Why

Why This Industry, Why Now

The restoration industry is recession-proof, growing, and serves communities during their most vulnerable moments. Floods, fires, mold emergencies — these don't stop during economic downturns. If anything, deferred maintenance and aging housing stock make the need greater. This is an industry with real mission, real stability, and real growth.

But beyond the stability and mission, this role offers something rare: a clear, explicit 18–24 month path to executive leadership — whether that's General Manager with full P&L ownership of a multi-million dollar operation or a broader regional leadership role overseeing multiple markets. Your trajectory depends on your strengths, ambitions, and performance.

You're not fighting for incremental promotions in a bureaucratic machine — you're being groomed to lead at the highest levels.

The Where

Midwest-Based With Multi-State Reach

This role will be based in the Midwest, ideally Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska (open to Kansas City for exceptional candidates). The strategic placement will be in one of the company's highest-performing markets to ensure you're immersed in leadership excellence before deploying those learnings elsewhere.

This is not a desk job. Developing leaders and teams requires boots on the ground, building real relationships, and being present when it matters most. Multi-state travel will be required, especially in the first year.

Home Base

Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska — ideally. Open to Kansas City for exceptional candidates.

Office Locations

Six offices across Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma — you'll spend meaningful time across all markets.

Travel Expectation

Approximately 50% travel — especially heavy in the first 12–18 months. Decreases as teams strengthen and you transition into an executive role.

Your Mission Field

High-performing offices to learn from + growth-mode offices to transform. Both are critical to your development as a future executive.

The How

Three Strategic Initiatives: Your First 12–18 Months

Success in this role will be defined by three clear priorities. This isn't a maintenance role with a polished playbook — it's an opportunity to shape what this regional organization becomes as it scales across multiple markets.

1

Leadership Development & Team Building Across Multiple Markets

Learn from the best-in-class leadership teams in high-performing offices, then deploy those leadership principles to develop struggling office leaders and their teams — focusing on decision-making capabilities, accountability mindsets, and building ownership cultures that drive sustainable performance.

2

Cultural Transformation & Performance Elevation

Drive measurable improvements in team engagement, retention, and performance across growth markets by coaching managers on how to inspire their teams, build trust, manage performance effectively, and create environments where people want to stay and excel.

3

Executive Leadership Apprenticeship

Work directly alongside a successful regional leader to understand the full scope of running a multi-office business — from strategic planning and margin management to people decisions and market expansion — positioning yourself for the next level, whether that's a GM role with full P&L ownership or a regional position overseeing multiple markets.

Your DNA

A Career-Defining Opportunity for a Motivated, Charismatic & Visionary Leader

People-First Business Leader

A coach, a mentor, a culture-builder who genuinely lights up when team members grow into their potential. You believe great businesses are built on great people — and you've proven it throughout your career.

Transformational Leader

You've taken underperforming teams and elevated them — not by doing their jobs for them, but by coaching them to think differently, make better decisions, and own their results. You inspire without micromanaging.

Executive Presence & Business Savvy

You can hold your own in discussions about margins, profitability, and growth strategy while understanding that culture eats strategy for breakfast. Strategic thinking paired with deep human intuition.

Entrepreneurial & Results-Driven

Frustrated by bureaucracy and "cog in the machine" roles. You want to see the direct, measurable impact of your coaching and are comfortable making strategic decisions while collaborating with senior leadership.

Cultural Chameleon & Change Agent

Able to quickly read different team dynamics, build trust without needing formal authority, and drive change through influence, credibility, and genuine care for people. You've navigated multi-site politics successfully.

Strategic Road Warrior

Genuinely comfortable with significant multi-state travel. You understand that developing leaders requires boots on the ground, building real relationships, and being present when it matters most.

The Role

Who We're Looking For

As the Regional Development Manager, you will serve as the strategic partner and leadership development champion to the regional leader, driving team performance, building leadership capabilities, and elevating culture and accountability across multiple offices. This is an explicit leadership development role with a clear 18–24 month trajectory to executive leadership — whether that's a General Manager role with full P&L ownership or a regional leadership position overseeing multiple markets, depending on your strengths, interests, and performance.

Build Leadership Capabilities Across Locations

Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with GMs, Project Managers, and Estimators — helping them grow skills, navigate challenges, and take ownership of results without needing constant direction.

Proven Development Track Record

Demonstrated success coaching leaders and driving measurable improvements in engagement, retention, and team performance across multiple locations or business units.

Change Management & Cultural Transformation

Experience elevating underperforming teams or struggling managers — diagnosing people and culture issues, building buy-in, and creating sustainable improvement.

Performance Management

Ability to establish accountability frameworks, coach managers on how to manage performance, and create cultures where high performers thrive and low performers either improve or move on.

Strategic Thinking & Executive Presence

Ability to move fluidly between tactical people challenges and strategic leadership decisions. You carry yourself with confidence and credibility in discussions with senior leadership and location leaders alike.
