The Who

About Our Client

Our client is a national luxury technology integrator specializing in smart home solutions for high-end residential projects. They design, sell, and install integrated systems — lighting, shades, audio/video, networking, automation, and security — for some of the most spectacular homes in North America.

The San Francisco Bay Area location is one of their largest and most active branches, generating $9-12M in annual revenue with a 22-person team. The market spans the Peninsula, Silicon Valley, and Napa — serving an exceptionally wealthy client base driven by the tech industry. This branch was built through the acquisition of three companies (Homeworks Group, Twilight Solutions, and Avid), creating a diverse mix of AV-heavy and security-strong expertise.

Fresh operational investment is in place with a clear mandate: formalize the service sales function, relieve the overwhelmed service manager, and capture the massive untapped revenue sitting in the existing client base. This is a high-visibility role in a market with extraordinary wealth and consistent opportunity.

The Market Reality

The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the wealthiest regions in the country, with massive concentration of tech wealth driving luxury real estate across the Peninsula, Silicon Valley, and Napa. The existing client base is large, active, and underserved on the service sales side.

The Market Opportunity

There is a ton of untapped business. The service manager has 30 years of experience and receives 30+ calls daily from long-standing clients — but he's overwhelmed. The funnel is overflowing, and follow-up is suffering. This role is designed to relieve that pressure and turn that volume into revenue.

The What

What You'll Be Selling

You will own the service sales function for existing clients across the San Francisco Bay Area — homeowners who already have systems installed and need upgrades, retrofits, expansions, troubleshooting solutions, support plans, and security monitoring contracts.

Your job is to become the trusted advisor for homeowners who want their systems fixed, upgraded, or enhanced. You're not selling to builders or architects — you're selling directly to the people living in the home.

System Upgrades & Retrofits

Diagnosing aging control, lighting, and security systems and proposing modern, integrated solutions.

Support Plans & Monitoring Contracts

Converting reactive clients into long-term recurring revenue relationships through monthly support plans and security monitoring.

Service Call Conversions

Turning flagged service calls from techs into scoped, priced proposals delivered within 24 hours.

Proactive Outreach

Monthly campaigns reaching out to clients who haven't been heard from in months, checking in, and identifying upgrade opportunities.

Must Haves

What This Role Demands

This role demands a technically proficient, service-oriented sales professional with deep knowledge of AV, control, and lighting systems. You must be able to walk into a home, quickly assess an existing system, diagnose issues, and propose credible solutions — all while communicating in simple, non-technical language to homeowners.

You need to be hungry — this is not an order-taker role. You'll be proactively reaching out to clients, following up on service calls, turning around proposals in 24 hours, and hitting monthly sales goals that rival a standard luxury sales rep. You must be organized, able to handle high volume (4-6 techs funneling opportunities to you), and willing to work beyond 8-5 when needed to meet commitments.

Technical AV/Control/Lighting Background

Strong working knowledge of smart home systems (Control4, Crestron, Savant, Lutron). AV/control/lighting experience preferred; security-only background will not translate.

Client-Facing Service Experience

Proven ability to build trust with homeowners, diagnose their pain points, and translate technical concepts into simple, clear language.

Hungry, Not an Order Taker

Proactive in reaching out to existing clients, converting service calls into opportunities, and hitting aggressive monthly sales targets.

Organized & Fast-Moving

Ability to manage high volume, prioritize competing demands, and deliver proposals within 24 hours without sacrificing quality.

The Why

Why This Market, Why Now

The smart home industry is the next essential trade. A century ago, electricity wasn't standard. Fifty years ago, air conditioning was a luxury. Today, robust networking, integrated lighting, motorized shades, and whole-home automation are becoming baseline expectations in high-end homes.

The San Francisco Bay Area represents one of the wealthiest and most tech-savvy markets in the country. Homeowners here expect sophisticated, seamless technology — and they're willing to invest in keeping their systems current, functional, and cutting-edge.

The opportunity is massive because the existing client base is large, active, and underserved. The service manager is overwhelmed. The funnel is overflowing. Clients want upgrades, support, and solutions — but there's no one dedicated to turning that demand into revenue. That's where you come in.

The Where

A Hybrid Role With Real Autonomy

You'll work from home but spend significant time in the field — visiting client homes for site walks, meeting with the Service Manager and team at the branch, and coordinating with techs to scope opportunities. This is not a desk job. This is being the service sales engine for one of the company's largest branches — constantly moving, following up, proposing, and closing.

You'll work closely with the Service Manager (Eric) — a 30-year veteran with deep technical knowledge and long-standing client relationships. Every Monday, you'll sit down together to review the previous week's service calls, identify opportunities, and strategize how to support each other.

Client Homes

On-site visits for discovery, site walks, and system assessments when techs don't have time to gather all the information.

Branch Office

Regular collaboration with the Service Manager, techs, and operations team to ensure seamless handoffs and execution.

Field Coordination

Working closely with 4-6 service techs who will flag opportunities and funnel leads to you throughout the week.

The How

Your First 12–18 Months: Three Strategic Priorities

Success in this role will be defined by three clear priorities. This isn't a maintenance role where you're waiting for opportunities to come to you. This is a high-volume, fast-paced, proactive sales role where you're expected to turn the overwhelmed funnel into consistent, predictable revenue.

1

Own the Service Sales Funnel

Manage a high volume of opportunities funneled by 4-6 service techs, flagged service calls that need proposals, and monthly outreach campaigns to clients who haven't been heard from in months. Move fast — turning around proposals within 24 hours, following up relentlessly, and keeping the pipeline organized and moving. Speed and follow-through are non-negotiable.

2

Convert Support Plans & Monitoring Contracts

A major focus of this role is converting reactive clients into long-term recurring revenue relationships. That means selling monthly support plans and security monitoring contracts. You'll partner with the Service Manager to identify the right clients, pitch the value, and close the deal. This is a key driver of branch profitability and your success metrics.

3

Communicate & Deliver on Commitments

Homeowners expect white-glove service and clear communication. When you set an expectation — whether it's a proposal deadline, a follow-up call, or a site visit — you deliver on it. Period. Your reputation is built on trust, reliability, and follow-through.

Your DNA

The Profile We're Looking For

Technical Expert Who Translates Simply

You have deep working knowledge of smart home systems (AV, control, lighting, security) and can walk into a home and diagnose what's there. But you also know how to communicate that in simple, non-technical language to homeowners who just want their system to work.

Hungry & Proactive

You're not waiting for opportunities to come to you. You're reaching out to clients, following up on service calls, moving proposals through the pipeline, and hitting aggressive monthly sales goals. You have the drive to hunt your existing client base and turn warm leads into revenue.

Organized & High-Volume Ready

You can manage multiple opportunities at once, prioritize what's urgent, and move fast without sacrificing quality. You're comfortable with 4-6 techs funneling opportunities to you and know how to keep everything organized and moving.

Low Ego, High Collaboration

You know what you know, and you know what you don't know. When you need help from the Service Manager, the techs, or the service sales engineer, you ask. You're not trying to be the smartest person in the room — you're trying to deliver the best solution for the client.

Service Mentality That Runs Deep

This isn't a transactional sales job. You're guiding clients through upgrades, troubleshooting, and system enhancements that can take weeks or months. You care about delivering an exceptional experience at every stage — not just closing the deal. Clients remember how they felt throughout the process.

Comfortable Working Beyond 8-5

This is not a clock-in, clock-out role. Sometimes you'll need to work late to deliver on a commitment to a client. The next day, you might take off early. It's about delivering on what you promise — not punching a timecard.

The Role

Who We're Looking For

As the Luxury Service Account Manager for San Francisco, you will own the service sales function and drive revenue growth by converting service calls, support plans, and proactive outreach into closed opportunities. You will serve as the primary point of contact for existing homeowners who need system upgrades, retrofits, support plans, and security monitoring.

This role requires technical depth, fast execution, and exceptional client communication. You'll work in a high-volume environment where speed, organization, and follow-through are critical to success.

Follow Up & Close

Service Call Conversion

Review flagged service calls from techs on a daily dashboard. Follow up with clients, scope the opportunity, and deliver proposals within 24 hours.

Support Plan & Monitoring Sales

Partner with the Service Manager to sell monthly support plans and security monitoring contracts. Target clients who are reactive and convert them into long-term recurring relationships.

Site Walks & Discovery

Visit client homes when techs don't have time to gather all the information needed to scope an upgrade or retrofit. Assess systems, take notes, and translate that into actionable proposals.

Collaboration With Service Manager

Meet every Monday with the Service Manager to review the previous week's service calls, discuss client opportunities, and strategize how to support each other.

Proposal Development & CRM Management

Create clear, accurate proposals using internal tools. Present solutions to clients with confidence. Maintain an accurate CRM, track all opportunities, forecast revenue, and provide regular updates to leadership.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

We're looking for a service-oriented sales professional with deep technical knowledge of smart home systems and proven experience working directly with homeowners. Technical AV/Control/Lighting Background

Working knowledge of Control4, Crestron, Savant, Lutron, and related platforms. Ability to assess existing systems and propose credible upgrades.

Client-Facing & Service-Oriented

Proven ability to build trust with homeowners, especially women and house managers who are the primary decision-makers in service situations.
