The Who

About Our Client

Our client is a national luxury technology integrator specializing in smart home solutions for high-end residential projects. They design, sell, and install integrated systems — lighting, shades, audio/video, networking, automation, and security — for some of the most spectacular homes in North America.

The DC Metro region is a strategic growth market with fresh investment and leadership committed to building something significant. The region has been part of their footprint, but it's lacked focus — until now. With new ownership, fresh capital, and a clear mandate to grow, the opportunity to establish market dominance in one of the country's wealthiest regions is wide open. Projects here regularly trade in the $5M–$20M range, and expectations for sophistication and execution are exceptionally high.

Leadership is in place with a clear mandate: establish the brand as the definitive technology partner in the DC Metro luxury market. This is a true ground-floor opportunity — you'll be building the book, establishing relationships, and shaping what this market becomes.

The Market Reality

The DC Metro luxury real estate market is one of the strongest and wealthiest in the country. Custom home construction across Northern Virginia (McLean, Great Falls, Fairfax County), Maryland (Potomac, Bethesda, Chevy Chase), and DC is consistently trading at $400–$1,200+ per square foot — making this one of the most lucrative territories for a technology integrator in the country.

The Market Opportunity

There are several small players and one large competitor in the market — but plenty of opportunity for the right person to establish market dominance. The integrator who shows up with credibility and earned trust doesn't have to compete — they become the default choice. Every builder, designer, and architect in this market is looking for a technology partner they can call first.

The What

What You'll Be Selling

You will own and build relationships with elite custom home builders, architects, and interior designers across the DC Metro area — Northern Virginia (McLean, Great Falls, Fairfax County), Maryland (Potomac, Bethesda, Chevy Chase), and the District.

Your job is to become the trusted technology advisor for high-end builders and design professionals. You're not selling products. You're selling sophisticated, seamless lifestyle solutions that make a home feel effortless.

Lighting Control

Intelligent, scene-based lighting systems tailored to each client's lifestyle and design vision.

Motorized Shading

Automated shading solutions that blend seamlessly with architecture and interior design.

Whole-Home Audio/Video

Immersive entertainment systems distributed throughout every room of the home.

Networking & Automation

Robust infrastructure and automation platforms that tie every system together effortlessly.

Must Haves

What This Role Demands

This role demands a hunter — a consultative seller with a proven track record in the luxury space. You must be comfortable navigating long sales cycles of 6–18 months with high-net-worth clients and the full ecosystem around them — general contractors, architects, designers, and project managers in a market known for sophisticated, design-led projects.

Experience in home services, construction, or the design/build world is critical. You need to understand how a luxury project flows, who the decision-makers are, and how to position yourself as an indispensable partner — not a vendor. Ideally, you already have relationships in the DC Metro builder and design community. If you don't, you need to be a resilient hunter who can build them fast in a competitive, relationship-driven market.

Consultative Sales Track Record

Proven experience selling in the luxury space with high-net-worth clients and complex stakeholder ecosystems.

Long-Cycle Comfort

Ability to manage and nurture opportunities across 6–18 month sales cycles without losing momentum.

Design/Build World Experience

Deep understanding of how luxury projects flow — from groundbreaking to final installation.

DC Metro Market Network

Existing relationships in the DC Metro builder, architect, and designer community across Northern Virginia, Maryland, or DC — or the hunter mentality to build them fast.

The Why

Why This Market, Why Now

The smart home industry is the next essential trade. A century ago, electricity wasn't standard. Fifty years ago, air conditioning was a luxury. Today, robust networking, integrated lighting, motorized shades, and whole-home automation are becoming baseline expectations in high-end new construction and renovations.

The market is underserved and evolving fast — clients need a partner who can make sense of it all. The DC Metro luxury real estate market is one of the strongest and wealthiest in the country. Custom home construction is consistently strong at $400–$1,200+ per square foot. The region serves an exceptionally educated, affluent client base — diplomats, executives, entrepreneurs, lawyers — who expect world-class execution and sophisticated design.

Everyone in the ecosystem knows smart home technology is critical — but most are intimidated by it, avoiding it, or burned by a bad experience with an unreliable integrator. That's the opening. That's your lane.

The Where

A Field-Based Role With Real Autonomy

You'll spend your days at job sites, builder offices, design studios, and showrooms across the DC Metro territory — Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC. There is no office yet — this is a true hunter territory. You'll work closely with the Mid-Atlantic GM (based in Maryland) and have operational support from the broader team, but you'll operate with significant autonomy.

This is not a desk job. This is being the mayor of luxury home automation in the DC Metro market — constantly visible, building relationships from scratch, and becoming the go-to name in a builder and design community that doesn't yet know this brand well. Your office is the market itself.

Job Sites

On-site presence at active luxury residential construction projects across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC.

Builder Offices

Regular meetings with custom home builders across McLean, Great Falls, Fairfax County, Potomac, Bethesda, and Chevy Chase.

Design Studios

Collaborative sessions with architects and interior designers — navigating both GC-led Virginia projects and architect-led DC engagements.

Showrooms

Showcasing integrated solutions to clients and design professionals in immersive environments across the territory.

The How

Your First 12–18 Months: Three Strategic Priorities

Success in this role will be defined by three clear priorities. This isn't a maintenance role with a polished playbook and a warm pipeline — it's a ground-floor opportunity to shape what this organization becomes in one of the country's most valuable luxury markets.

1

Build the Book from Scratch

Establish yourself as the technology partner of choice for elite custom home builders, architects, and design professionals across the DC Metro area. This is pure greenfield — you're not inheriting relationships or a warm pipeline. You'll be prospecting relentlessly, showing up on job sites, attending industry events, and earning trust one conversation at a time. In 6 months, the limiting factor won't be internal operations — it'll be gaining traction with new relationships. That's where you come in.

2

Consultative Selling in a Sophisticated Market

DC Metro clients are educated, design-focused, and expect precision. Virginia tends to be GC-led in the custom build process, while DC leans more architect-led. You'll need to navigate both dynamics with ease. Lead discovery, ask the right questions, map the client's lifestyle and design vision, and co-create integrated solutions that exceed expectations. This requires technical curiosity, design sensibility, and the ability to translate complexity into clarity.

3

Build Something That Matters

Leadership is investing in building out more robust operations across the Mid-Atlantic. You'll partner with the GM and the broader team to build confidence that this brand can deliver — and then go pitch it with conviction. If you need everything buttoned up before you can be productive, this isn't the fit. If you're energized by building systems, relationships, and momentum from the ground up — this is your role.

Your DNA

The Profile We're Looking For

Relationship-First Seller

You don't pitch; you listen. You earn trust through competence, consistency, and a genuine commitment to solving problems. In the luxury space — especially in a sophisticated market like DC Metro — your reputation is everything, and trust is earned one project at a time.

Pure Hunter Mentality

You're energized by greenfield opportunity. You don't need a warm pipeline or inherited relationships to be successful — you thrive on the challenge of building something from scratch. Relentless in prospecting, resilient in the face of rejection, and driven by the satisfaction of winning relationships one conversation at a time.

Technically Curious

You don't need to program a Crestron system or pull wire, but you genuinely care about how technology improves people's lives. You can translate technical complexity into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical clients.

Autonomous & Accountable

You want the freedom to build your own strategy and the satisfaction of seeing direct impact. When things go sideways — they always do in sales — you solve the problem, learn from it, and move forward without excuses.

Deep Service Mentality

This isn't a transactional sales job. You're guiding high-net-worth clients through a complex, high-stakes process that can span 6–18 months. You care about delivering an exceptional experience at every stage — not just closing the deal. In this market, that reputation travels fast.

Market Fluency

You know — or are ready to learn — the rhythms of the DC Metro luxury market. You understand the players across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC, the project cycles, and the unwritten rules of how business gets done at this level. You don't just sell in the market; you become part of it.

The Role

Who We're Looking For

As the Sales Executive for the DC Metro area, you will own your territory and drive revenue growth through strategic relationship development with custom home builders, architects, and interior designers across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC. You will serve as the primary point of contact for high-value residential projects, guiding clients through the sales process from initial consultation to signed contract.

This role requires hunter mentality, consultative selling skills, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles in one of the country's most sophisticated luxury markets. This is greenfield — you'll be building the book from scratch with leadership support, lead generation infrastructure, and a national brand behind you.

Relationship Ownership & Strategic Value

Serve as the primary relationship owner for your accounts. Host lunch-and-learns on emerging smart home trends, educate architects on integrated technology, and help builders understand how automation can differentiate their projects in a market known for sophisticated, design-led builds.
