Houston, TX (Preferred) — Own accounting operations and be the guardian of financial truth for a national, multi-branch luxury brand scaling toward $100M+.
Our client is hiring a Controller to own accounting operations and be the guardian of financial truth across a national, multi-branch operation. This is not a polished, buttoned-up accounting department where everything runs like clockwork.
This role is for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives on bringing discipline and rigor to a fast-growing, multi-location business — someone energized by building systems, implementing controls, and creating the accounting infrastructure that transforms chaos into clarity.
Nation's leading luxury residential technology integrator — PE-backed.
Unify 15+ independent companies into one cohesive national platform with clean books, tight controls, and a trusted close.
A career-defining chance to build the financial foundation — and a clear path to VP of Finance or CFO as the company scales.

Our client is the nation's leading luxury residential technology integrator — the only scaled, national luxury smart home company in the United States. They partner with ultra-high-net-worth homeowners, elite architects, custom builders, and interior designers to create seamless smart home experiences: lighting and shade control, whole-home audio/video, climate automation, security, networking, and integrated systems that make every day effortless, beautiful, and connected.
Headquartered in Austin, Texas and operating across the US, they are in the middle of an ambitious growth story: transforming from a collection of 15+ independent businesses into one cohesive national platform, building toward $100M in revenue and beyond.
The foundation is there — talented teams, premium clients, and growing revenue — but the accounting infrastructure needs a leader who can bring discipline, build scalable processes, and ensure the books stay clean as the company continues to scale. That's where you come in.
PE-backed and scaling fast, this organization is unifying what started as 15+ independent companies into one national brand. Multi-entity consolidation, branch-level financial integrity, and a trusted general ledger are mission-critical as leadership drives toward $100M in revenue and beyond.
The Controller who walks in with discipline, technical rigor, and a builder's mentality won't just maintain the books — they'll architect the financial infrastructure that powers a national brand. Every system, every control, every process is theirs to design and own.
You will own accounting operations and the integrity of the general ledger across every branch. Reporting to the CFO/VP of Finance, you'll run the close, keep the books clean, and lead the accounting team.
Your job is to become the guardian of financial truth for a national business. You're not just reconciling accounts. You're building the systems, controls, and discipline that make every number underneath the business accurate, timely, and trustworthy.
Run a disciplined, on-time close process across all branches and consolidate everything into a corporate P&L leadership can trust.
Own the GL and chart of accounts. Keep NetSuite as the single source of truth, reconciled to every sub-ledger at all times.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll/billing across the branch network with standardized, scalable processes.
Design and enforce controls and accounting SOPs that hold up branch to branch as the company scales to $100M and beyond.
This role demands a hands-on accounting leader with a proven track record in multi-location, multi-entity businesses. You must have a CPA, deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, and at least 6+ years of progressive accounting experience — including 2+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
Multi-location, multi-entity experience is required. NetSuite experience is strongly preferred. Most importantly, you need to be a builder — someone who thrives on creating order from complexity and is energized by designing the systems and controls that keep a fast-scaling national brand financially sound.
CPA required. 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
Experience consolidating financials across multiple branches or legal entities is required — not preferred.
Deep knowledge of GAAP, month-end close processes, reconciliations, and building internal control frameworks that scale.
Strong hands-on ERP experience required. NetSuite strongly preferred — you'll be ensuring it's the single source of truth across every branch.
This is not a maintenance role. If you're looking for a polished accounting department where everything already runs like clockwork, this isn't it. This is the opportunity to build that machine — and become the architect of order for a fast-scaling national brand.
You won't be maintaining someone else's playbook — you'll be writing it. You'll have real ownership over accounting operations, direct partnership with the CFO/VP of Finance, and the satisfaction of creating the systems and controls that power a national brand. The accounting infrastructure is yours to build from the ground up.
As the company scales to $100M and beyond, the finance function grows with it — and so does your role. There is a clear and intentional path to VP of Finance or CFO for the right candidate who delivers here.
Houston, TX is the preferred location — that's where the corporate team is based and where the CFO/VP of Finance operates. Strong candidates in other locations will be considered, but you need to be accessible and engaged with the team and branch network.
This is not a fully remote, out-of-sight role. This is being the financial backbone of a national operation — present, engaged, and plugged in. Minimal travel to branch locations is expected as you build the controls and close cadence across the network.
Preferred location — home base of the corporate team, CFO/VP of Finance, and leadership.
Flexibility built in, but you need to be accessible and engaged with the team on a regular basis.
Minimal travel to locations required (estimated 10–15%) to build relationships and enforce controls across 12+ branches.
Strong candidates elsewhere will be considered — but accessibility and engagement with the team is non-negotiable.
Success in this role will be defined by three clear priorities. This isn't a maintenance role with a polished playbook and a clean ledger — it's an opportunity to build the financial foundation that defines what this organization becomes at scale.
Establish a disciplined, on-time month-end and year-end close process across all branches. Consolidate everything into a corporate P&L that leadership can trust. You're building the rhythm and rigor that makes the close routine, not heroic — every single month, without exception.
Take full ownership of the general ledger and chart of accounts. Ensure NetSuite is the single source of truth and stays reconciled to every sub-ledger — AP, AR, inventory, payroll. Lead the monthly reconciliation cadence so financial data stays trustworthy as the company grows. Nothing rolls forward unreconciled on your watch.
Design and enforce internal controls and accounting SOPs that hold up branch to branch. Train branch-level staff on them. You're creating the infrastructure that allows the company to scale without losing accuracy or visibility — from 12 branches today to wherever growth takes them.
You're energized by taking something messy and making it pristine. You see a tangled reconciliation or an inconsistent close process and think, "I can fix this." This isn't maintenance work for you — it's creation work.
This isn't a "delegate and disappear" role. You'll personally run reconciliations, work directly in NetSuite, and be side-by-side with your team during month-end close. You lead by example and roll up your sleeves.
You don't cut corners. You understand that accurate, timely financial reporting is the foundation everything else is built on. You're obsessive about reconciliations and hold yourself and your team to the highest standards.
You want to write the playbook. You want to design the controls, standardize the processes, and create the SOPs that will support the company as it scales. You see the current state as a blank canvas, not a liability.
You can translate accounting complexity into plain language for non-finance leaders. You partner effectively with Operations, Sales, and branch-level GMs — building trust through transparency and competence.
You're not content to be a Controller forever. You see this role as a stepping stone to VP of Finance or CFO. You're eager to learn, develop your strategic skills, and take on increasing responsibility as the company scales.
As the Controller, you will own accounting operations and the integrity of the general ledger across every branch. Reporting to the CFO/VP of Finance, you'll run the close, keep the books clean, and lead the accounting team that makes sure every number underneath the business — AP, AR, inventory, payroll — is accurate, timely, and trustworthy.
This role requires deep accounting expertise, full operational ownership, and the expectation that you will become the architect of financial discipline — not a manager who simply signs off on numbers, but a trusted partner whose controls and systems make the entire business more reliable.
Close, reconcile, control
Hire, develop, hold accountable
SOPs, audits, cross-functional partnership
Every reconciliation, every close, every control you put in place demands precision, ownership, and a genuine commitment to financial truth — from the first day to the final audit.
Run a disciplined, on-time month-end and year-end close across all branches. Consolidate branch-level activity into the corporate P&L. You ensure the close happens consistently, accurately, and on schedule — every single month, without heroics.
Own the general ledger, chart of accounts, and monthly reconciliation cadence — inventory, AR aging, bank accounts, sub-ledger to GL. Ensure NetSuite is the single source of truth and stays reconciled to every sub-ledger. Nothing rolls forward unreconciled on your watch.
Design and maintain internal controls and accounting SOPs that hold up branch to branch. Train branch-level staff on them. Create the infrastructure that allows the company to scale without losing accuracy or control.
Oversee accounts payable (vendor invoicing, payment runs, top-vendor terms) and accounts receivable (invoicing, cash application, collections) across the branch network. Ensure processes are standardized, efficient, and scalable.
Own the audit-ready file — schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation — and serve as the primary contact for external auditors. Hire, train, and develop accounting staff. Build a team culture of precision, accountability, and continuous improvement.
We're looking for a seasoned accounting leader with a demonstrated track record in multi-location, multi-entity businesses. The ideal candidate brings both the technical depth to own the general ledger and the leadership skills to build and develop a high-performing accounting team.
Progressive accounting experience including 2+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. CPA required.
Experience consolidating financials across multiple branches or legal entities. Understanding of how accounting ties to field operations, inventory, and project-based revenue.
Strong hands-on ERP experience required. NetSuite strongly preferred — you'll be managing it as the single source of truth across the entire branch network.
Proven ability to hire, train, and develop an accounting team. Experience building a culture of precision and accountability in a growing, multi-location business.
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reconciliations, and internal controls. You know the work as well as your team does — and you're willing to roll up your sleeves and do it.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining accounting processes at scale within an ERP. NetSuite preferred. You make the system work, not the other way around.
Excellent written and verbal skills; comfortable translating accounting complexity into plain language for non-finance leaders, operations managers, and branch GMs alike.
Energized by creating processes, controls, and systems — not just maintaining them. You see the current state as a blank canvas and thrive on designing the infrastructure that scales.
Eager to develop into a VP of Finance or CFO role. You want mentorship, increasing responsibility, and a clear path to the top finance seat as the company grows.
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus 15–20% performance-based bonus target on top of base compensation.
If you're a hands-on accounting leader who thrives on bringing order and discipline to a growing business, we want to hear from you. This is more than a job — it's your chance to write the playbook, build the infrastructure, and become the financial architect of a national brand.
You won't be maintaining someone else's system. You'll be building yours. Your future awaits.
